On My Own Terms
A journey of dreaming big & following through.

Welcome to My First Blog Post!
I’ve recently taken a bold step for my health and well-being—I’ve relocated to Thailand! Living here has been a dream of mine ever since my first visit in 2006, and now it’s finally a reality.
Back in 2005, I was completing my studies to become a massage therapist when I came across a flyer for Dr. Bob’s Thai Trip. It immediately sparked something in me. I’d always been fascinated by Thailand—its rich Buddhist culture, flavorful cuisine, and the allure of being on the other side of the world. I didn’t hesitate.
That trip turned out to be a life-changing experience. Thailand was my first major international adventure (aside from visiting the Caribbean), and I traveled with a group of people from across the United States, which was exactly the guidance I needed at the time.
Our journey began in Bangkok. Initially, I wasn’t impressed—it felt overwhelming with its traffic, crowds, and a side of the city I wasn’t prepared for. Fast forward to today, and I’ve grown to love Bangkok for its vibrant energy and endless possibilities.
The highlight of that trip, though, was Koh Samui, a laid-back island paradise that left me in awe. I embraced every moment—riding tuk-tuks, savoring street food, and even attending the famous Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. To this day, those memories bring a smile to my face.
Why I Moved to Thailand
Living in the United States had begun to feel unnatural for me. The mass shootings, misinformation, celebrated violence, and political corruption created an environment that weighed heavily on my spirit. I yearned for community, connection, and consideration—values I’ve found to be deeply rooted in Thai culture.
While no place is perfect, Thailand has offered me a chance to rebuild my life in a way that aligns with my values. Here’s why I chose to make this move:
1. Culture
The Buddhist culture in Thailand is welcoming and nonjudgmental. I’ve always felt safe and accepted here. Thai people are renowned for their warm hospitality and eagerness to share their culture. This sense of acceptance and connection is something I deeply value.
2. Quality of Life
Thailand offers an affordable cost of living, making a fulfilling life accessible. From bustling cities to tranquil islands and scenic mountain towns, there’s a diversity here that I love. The infrastructure also makes it easy to explore every corner of the country.
3. Work-Life Balance
The slower pace of life in Thailand encourages mindfulness and appreciation for the present moment. Whether working remotely, starting a business, or pursuing passions, the lifestyle here promotes balance—a stark contrast to the constant hustle of Western life.
How This Ties Into My Business
Relocating to Thailand isn’t just about personal growth; it’s also about aligning my business with my values. Through Connected with Mysti, I aim to help others cultivate balance, connection, and mindfulness in their own lives.
Just as I’ve sought a life that feels more authentic and aligned, I want to support others in doing the same. Whether through movement, wellness practices, or fostering community, my mission is to empower you to reconnect with yourself and embrace life on your own terms.
This blog is where I’ll share my journey, insights, and reflections as I continue to build a life of connection and purpose. Thank you for joining me—I can’t wait to grow together!
